The Ministry of Health of the Gaza Strip, reported 50 people killed on Saturday in a shot on a school which housed displaced in a UN refugee camp located in the north of the enclave.
This strike occurred “at dawn, on the al-Fakhoura school”, in the Jabaliya camp, assured AFP an official of the ministry.
Jabaliya is the largest refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, more than 80% of which are refugees or descendants of refugees, who had left their homes in 1948 to the creation of the State of Israel.
The UN agency in charge of Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) manages the eight camps in the small territory. In Jabaliya, UNRWA takes care of 26 schools and two health centers.
The Commissioner General of the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, denounced “appalling” images on Saturday from the school.
“We receive dreadful images from many dead and injured once again in a UNRWA school housing thousands of displaced people in the north of the Gaza Strip,” wrote the director of this UN agency.
“These attacks should not become commonplace, they must stop. A humanitarian cease-fire can no longer wait, “he said.
