The 44th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) will present a total of six Egyptian films, including a fictional feature film, a documentary feature and four short films produced by several promising directors.
Taking place from November 13 to 22, 2022, the programming of the Egyptian films festival will feature the film 19 B of Ahmad Abdalla as part of the international competition, as was previously revealed.
The other Egyptian films selected are four short films in official competition: My Girl Friend,, Mama,, From the work of the Devil And The interview and a documentary feature film Far from the Nile In the “Horizons of Arabic cinema” competition.
Amir Ramses, director of the Cairo International Film Festivalsaid that five of these Egyptian films will be screened as a world premiere, while the sixth, My Girl Friendfrom director Kawthar Younis, will be in the first Arab, since he had made his world premiere to the last edition of the Venice Mostra, which took place in September 2022.
- My Girl Friend (my girlfriend) – 17 minutes.
Directed by Kawthar Younis, My Girl Friend Will be scheduled in the MENA region at the Cairo International Film Festival.
Synopsis: desperate of intimacy, Ali follows the suggestion of his girlfriend, which puts their relationship to the test. The plan takes place unexpectedly when gender roles become blurred.
- Mama (Mom) – 20 minutes
This short film, directed by Naji Ismail will be screened at the CIFF world first at the CIFF.
Synopsis: A young girl of twenty -one years hides a terrifying secret to protect and protect her brother.
- From the work of the Devil (De L’eurue du Diable) – 21 minutes
This short film, directed by Dessil Mekhtigian, will be presented worldwide at CIFF.
Synopsis: After 10 years, a young woman returns to Cairo to organize an exhibition on the pioneers of Armenian photography who archived Egypt through time. During preparations, the environment makes him understand the reason for his return.
- The Interview (Interview) – 15 minutes
This fictional short film, directed by Hind Metwally and featuring Sarrah Abdelrahman as a main director, will be presented worldwide at CIFF.
Synopsis: Nadia must choose between taking care of her suicidal and depressed mother or attending a job interview that could change her life and provide for her family.
- Far from the Nile (far from the Nile) – 99 minutes
Directed by Sherif El Katsha, “far from the Nile” is a documentary feature film whose world first will take place at the Cairo International Film Festival as a opening film for the Horizons of Arabic cinema competition.
Synopsis: Twelve musicians from seven countries riparian to the Nile speaking of languages and having different musical styles fight to collaborate during their four-month tour in the United States.
The Cairo International Film Festival is one of the oldest film festivals in the Arab world and Africa and the only festival in the region to be accredited as a festival (A) by (FIAPF) – The International Federation of Film producers.
