Tanzanian rebels Amil Shivji won the golden tanit

The Tanit d’Or of Carthage Cinematographic Days (JCC) 2022 was awarded to the Tanzanian film the rebels (Vata N’Kuvute) by Amil Shivji.

The winning film is also the winner of the Prix for Best Photography and the Fipresci Prize, (International Federation of Cinematographic Press) which is a parallel prize awarded the day before the JCC closure.

Tanzania is thus awarded by the Festival Grand Prix, awarded to the best work in the fictional feature film category. The rebels is the film candidate of Tanzania with 2023 Oscars.

The list of official JCC competition organized from October 29 to November 05, was unveiled on Saturday evening during a ceremony organized at the Opera Theater in the Cité de la Culture in Tunis.

Tunisian films in the official competition have had three prizes and two special mentions. The silver tanker of the fiction feature films competition was attributed to under the figs of Erige Sehiri.

The bronze tanit of the competition of documentary feature films returned to guardian of the worlds of Leila Chaibi. The bronze tanit of the competition of documentary short films was awarded to 5: 1 of Sarah Ben Saud.

Two special mentions were allocated to Denied Access of Hayfel Ben Youssef, in the competition of documentary feature films, and Edicius, an animated film by Emir Haj Salah, in the Carthage Ciné Promise competition.

The jury of the criticism week awarded the prize for this section which is its first edition to the Moroccan film La Vie va me from Al Hadi Ulad-Mohand.
