Hamas says it is ready to make an exchange between all the soldiers held by the Palestinian movement and the Palestinian prisoners.
A senior Hamas official assured this Wednesday, November 29, 2023, that the Palestinian movement was ready to release all the Israeli soldiers which he has in exchange for all the Palestinians imprisoned in Israel.
“We are ready to release all the soldiers in exchange for all our prisoners,” said Bassem Naïm, senior Hamas and former Minister of Health in Gaza, at a press conference in the South African Cape Town.
A total of 6,700 Palestinians are in prison in Israel, according to Hamoked’s latest report, dating from November 1, 2023, but several prisoners have died since the war on October 7.
Among the Palestinians imprisoned, 2,300 people were sentenced, including 550 in life prison, 2,300 are awaiting trial and 2000 are in administrative detention. A number that has never been so high in the past twenty-five years.
