The Tunisian author, Yamen Manai, won the prize for Arab literature 2022 from the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation and the Institute of the Arab world, for his novel “Bel Abya” (Elyzad editions).
Created in 2013 and an endowment of 10,000 euros, the Arab literature award is a French award that distinguishes Arab literary creation.
The jury, made up of personalities from the world of arts and culture, as well as specialists from the Arab world, praised “a brief fascinating novel written in a simple and powerful style at the same time, which denounces, through the journey of a rebellious adolescent, the injustices of a cruel society in Tunisia of popular suburbs”.
Born in 1980 in Tunis, Yamen Manai is an engineer who currently lives in Paris. Engineer, he works on new information technologies. He has already published “La Marche de l’Uncertité” in 2010), “The serenade of Ibrahim Santos” in 2011 and “L’Assge fierce” in 2017.
