Céline Dion again postponed the start of the European dates on Thursday on her tour, scheduled for February, explaining this decision by “a very rare neurological disorder” which notably prevents her from singing as she would like.
In a video of almost five minutes posted on Instagram, in French and English, the Quebec star, visibly very moved, says he has experienced “health problems for a long time”.
“Recently, I was diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder, called in English Stiff-Person syndrome (stiff person syndrome),” she explains.
This disorder, which is characterized in particular by a progressive muscle rigidity, leads to Céline Dion difficulties to walk and prevents her from using (her) vocal cords as she would like.
“We do not yet know everything about this rare disease but we now know that this is the cause of the muscle spasms from which I suffer,” she continues.
The singer had already mentioned these spasms in the spring, during the previous postponement of her European tour. She then claimed to feel “a little better” even if she “still had her to have spasms.
Expected at the end of February in the Czech Republic for the European part of her “Courage World Tour” tour, Céline Dion again preferred to postpone her reunion with the old continent.
“It saddens me a lot to have to tell you today that I will not be ready to start my tour in Europe in February,” she regrets, saying that she had “an excellent team of doctors”.
