The major axes of reform in the cultural sector are at the center of the three-year development plan, 2023-2025, presented Tuesday, during a press conference held at the Cité de la Culture in Tunis.

In her intervention, the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Hayet Ketat Guermazi, announced the various reforms of which her department began the implementation.

In particular, it announced the creation of “culture check”, a device which aims to encourage consumption of cultural products and services.

The culture check is a means of payment for accessing goods or cultural services at preferential prices. Its operation is similar to gift vouchers, but it is moved and can only be used for the purchase of product or cultural services: show, theater, cinema, exhibition, music, etc.

The creation of a higher council of culture and heritage and the development of work mechanisms of the one -stop shop in cinema (filming and digitization of services) are at the top of the current reforms.

The Minister spoke of reforms which in particular aim to improve the climate of work for professionals in the film sector in connection with filming authorizations in Tunisia for foreign films.

The orientation also goes towards the lifting of restrictions on the export of plastic works of art as well as the recovery of the guarantee ceiling for loans granted to cultural and creative industries.

The reform of the cultural sector will mainly tackle the cultural and creative industries as a lever for global and sustainable development and a real stimulant for investment.
