The Minister of Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hayat Guettat Guermazi and the United States ambassador to Tunisia, Joey Hood, will sign today in Tunis a memorandum of understanding prohibiting the illegal transfer of Tunisian cultural goods.
This agreement provides for the imposition of restrictions on the importation of Tunisian archaeological and ethnological goods in accordance with the UNESCO Convention in 1970 on measures aimed at prohibiting and preventing the import, export and the transfer of illegal property of cultural goods.
The signature ceremony will take place today on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 4 p.m., at the Cité de la Culture Chedli Klibi.
On March 8, a ceremony for the delivery of 30 ancient currency, seized in Norway, was organized at the headquarters of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, in the presence of Norwegian researcher Ronald Haakon. These pieces dated from the Carthaginian period.
