The Jazz Organizing Committee in Carthage has just announced that the sixteenth edition of this festival has been postponed.
A press release dated March 22, informs the cultural public of the postponement of the edition of this spring session on a later date.
Here is the full text of the press release:
“It is with regret that we are announcing today the postponement of the spring 2023 edition of” Jazz in Carthage “, which was to take place from April 28 to May 6, 2023.
Despite all our efforts, persistent administrative slowness and administrative obstacles, the partnership with the institution to be housed Jazz in Carthage in 2023, agreed for a year now, and still not acted, as well as the financial, but also cyclical difficulties, have been so many obstacles to the holding of this musical event.
However, we want to reassure our faithful public as well as our partners that we remain determined to continue our mission to promote music and culture in Tunisia, despite the vagaries.
We are currently studying different options to reprogram the spring 2023 edition of “Jazz à Carthage” on a later date, probably in 2024, or to offer creative alternatives to maintain the spirit of “Jazz à Carthage” living.
We are aware that this news will be a disappointment for all those who were impatiently waiting to participate or attend the sixteenth episode of “Jazz in Carthage”, and we would like to express our gratitude to all the partners who supported this project since its beginnings.
We also thank all those who have contributed, in the past six months, to the preparation of the spring 2023 edition, in particular our teams and the artists.
We are convinced that substantive reforms are necessary to support the cultural sector and that of tourist animation in Tunisia to allow the holding of private initiative events.
We hope that the supervisory authorities will take real measures to remedy them as soon as possible. We will obviously be informed, all those who follow us, of all development and we hope to find you very soon to celebrate beautiful music together ”.
