Kuwait emir Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, died at the age of 86, announced this Saturday, December 16, the royal Kuwait court.
Kuwait emir, sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah, was admitted to hospital at the end of November due to a medical emergency.
“With great sadness, we mourn the death of Cheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah, an emir of the state of Kuwait,” said a statement released on Kuwaitian state television.
Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah was set up on the throne in September 2020. He is one of the half-brothers of the former sovereign, Cheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah, who had made him his heir at the beginning of 2006.
