Commenting on this announcement, Chiara Mastroianni said: ” The first time I went to the Cannes Film Festival was for my first film, My favorite season by André Téchiné. We were in official competition, I was 20 years old, and I was very impressed. I had the chance to go back many times in competition, and also in other selections, like a certain look for example, and it is always for me the same wonder, the same stage fright as the first time. I was also on the jury chaired by Martin Scorsese. It was an incredible experience to live 10 days of intense cinema with an exciting jury. This time, coming back as a mistress of ceremonies, I will discover another facet of the Cannes Film Festival, which I do not know. I have a huge stage fright but I am delighted. I live it as an absolute chance to attend the most beautiful selection of cinema in the world. I do it with great sincerity because my desire to become an actress was born from my love of films, from my pleasure as a spectator. I am always very admiring to see how Thierry Frémaux manages each time, to offer a selection of very eclectic feature films and where, sometimes, arises a first film that dazzles everyone. Because this is also this festival, a springboard that can tip everything. The festival is a promise of vertiginous sensations, a place where there is always the possibility of the unexpected. »»
