Dar El Kitab Stand Closed: Explanations from its director

The director of the publishing house Dar El Kitab, Habib Zoghbi, explained the reasons for the closure of his stand, in a video posted on Facebook by the page of “La Maison du Livre Tunisie”, this Friday, April 28, 2023.

This closure would be linked to the book “The Tunisian Frankenstein”, by author Kamel Riahi.

Habib Zoghbi deplored the harassment of security, administration and all stakeholders, against him and against his stand. He also said that the other publishers have also decided to close their stands as a protest against a decision that has no legal basis.

According to the director of the publishing house, the withdrawal of the book was due to the fact that he did not appear on the list deposited at the Fair when it was well included, later, in an additional list.

“The Tunisian Frankenstein” is a political book, as its present author, which reports on the creation of a monster by Tunisians from their disappointments.

“Chance of the calendar”, this closing of the Dar El Kitab stand comes just a few hours after the visit of the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, at the book fair on the occasion of its opening at the Kram exhibition center. A visit during which the Head of State insisted a lot on the importance of “liberating thought”.
