The opening evening of the Sousse storyteller festival was a remarkable public success. The Ribat was packed on May 6, for the opening show made by the Brahim Akoudi troop of Hammam Sousse.
Entitled “Nafass El Rouh”, this show was staged by Sadok Ammar and performed by several actors and dancers scattered within the majestic Ribat de Sousse, sublimated by considerable work in terms of artistic lights.
Written and staged by Sadok Ammar, this creation is a transversal in the life of the mystical Al Hallaj, theatrizes the Sufi tradition and offers a dive into a world where the word vibrates of esoteric, plural and deep meaning. The title of this work can be translated by “the breath of the soul”.
Made specially for the opening of the Sousse storyteller festival, this creation is characterized by its spectacular dimension, the sobriety of its aesthetics and the original music that accompanies it.
An original choreography is at the heart of the scenic device deployed in various spaces in the Ribat, one of the most emblematic medieval buildings in the Sahel pearl.
The Light Creation of Mohamed Saber Cheikh took the measure of the plastic beauty of the venerable Ribat.
After opening, the festival continued with its traditional international conference devoted this year to hagiography and popular literature. In addition, a large number of artistic performances are offered to the public in several cultural spaces and on public places.
Finally, the Association of Friends of the Book and the Library of Sousse which has the new presidency Hayet Zormati Lazreg, continues to weave its networks with the support of the regional cultural delegation of Sousse.
Indeed, a partnership agreement has just been signed by the association with the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Sousse. In addition, the opening show of this edition is the fruit of a triangular partnership between the association, the Brahim Akoudi troupe and the House of Culture of Hammam Sousse.
The Festival of Sousse storytellers takes place until May 14 and shines throughout the region.
