Gabriel Attal was officially appointed French Prime Minister by Emmanuel Macron. The former Minister of Education, who had recently the favor of the forecasts, took over from Elisabeth Borne who resigned yesterday. At 34, he became the youngest chief of government in the Fifth Republic, but also a French Prime Minister with Tunisian roots.

Gabriel Attal, born March 16, 1989 in Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine) in France, he is the son of Yves Attal, lawyer then film producer, of Tunisian Jewish origin and his mother, Marie de Couriss, employee of a production company, is of Orthodox Christian confession and descends from a family of Russians of Greek origin.

These Tunisian roots in this younger chief of the French government are confirmed by Jean-Louis Beaucarnot, in his book “The whole-political 2022” published in 2022.

Gabriel Nissim Attal, his “grandfather, born in the medina of Tunis, was of a family established in the neighboring city of the Marsa, where the great-grandfather, Elijah, had married a Modigliani, resulting from a rich Sepharian Jewish family of Libourne, who had given bankers of the pope and the famous painter, of which she seems to have been a pretty close cousin, de Modigliani become chocolate makers in Tunis.

The Trisaïeul, Haïm Attal, born around 1820 and beyond which one cannot go back further the genealogy, had married Dehia Chaltiel, of a family with an astonishing course, arrived in Tunis with an old grandfather Rabbi of Corfu, in Greece, whose own grandfather, former police officer in Algiers, was married in Gibraltar, as an Englishman London. ”, We read in this work, quoted by leaders.

Gabriel Attal has always been a close collaborator of the French president Emmanuel Macron. He appeared as Emanuel Macron as the first preference, he is only 34 years old to become, in fact, the youngest head of government in France.

Presented by the French media as “a pupil prodigy of Macronie”, Gabriel Attal performs an almost flawless political journey. Passed by Sciences Po Paris, he first campaigned with the Socialist Party. Barely 23 years old, he joined the office of Marisol Touraine, then Minister of Health of François Hollande.

From 2016, he joined En Marche, the party of Emmanuel Macron. Then, the following year, he was elected deputy of Hauts-de-Seine. He entered the government in 2018 as Secretary of State for Youth, at just 29 years old. He was then appointed spokesperson under Jean Castex between 2020 and 2022.
