The United States and the United Kingdom have announced that it had led this Friday, January 12, 2024 dawn of strikes on the Houthis rebels in Yemen to end their attacks in the Red Sea.
The strikes were carried out using Tomahawk combat and missile planes, several American media said. They benefited from the “support” of Australia, Bahrain, Canada and the Netherlands, said the White House.
Also according to the same source, these strikes have targeted military sites in several cities controlled by the Houthis.
The American-British operation was carried out “successfully”, in response “direct to the unprecedented attacks of Houthi on international ships in the Red Sea,” American president Joe Biden said in a statement.
For their part, the Houthis denounced these strikes threatening to expand their operations in the Red Sea and to retaliate to these attacks.
