The panoramic photos are increasingly popular and a number of amateurs around the world participate in an informal competition to achieve the largest panorama in the world. The record now belongs to Jeffrey Martin who revealed a panorama of London from 80 Gigapixels.
The new image goes beyond previous efforts such as that of 70 Gigapixels from Budapest, that of 45 gigapixels from Dubai or 26 Gigapixels from Paris, all taken during this year.
To make this record, Jeffrey Martin took 7,886 London High Resolution individual shots, and assembled them to form a single image. He used a computer with 6 Dual-Core processors, 192 GB of RAM and a graphics card of 4 GB in order to create a panorama of London with a total resolution of 80 gigapixels. This makes it the biggest panoramic photo in the world.
The photos were taken at the top of the 36-story high point center tower, and include almost all of the most famous sites in London. And if it were to be printed, this prodigious panorama would measure 35 meters long and 17 meters high.
