Maltese oranges from Tunisia and sold in Leclerc supermarkets in France have been recalling massive product, they would indeed contain pesticides beyond the regulatory threshold.

The official French site for alerts of dangerous products reports the “presence of pesticides beyond the regulatory threshold” and invites consumers to no longer consume the products concerned.

Indeed, CONSO recall evokes a sachet of 1.5 kilo of Maltese oranges from Tunisia, category 1, caliber 7/8. “To avoid any risk for health, three recommendations are to be expected: no longer consuming these oranges, bringing the product to the point of sale or destroying it,” it was communicated.

This is not the first time that Tunisian oranges have been a problem on the French market. March 2023, more than 40 tonnes of Tunisian Maltese oranges were refused in France and redirected to Tunisia. Other quantities have been recalled and removed from the market. Associations had even called to boycott this Tunisian agricultural product.
