His name is Wael Ghonim and he is Google’s marketing manager for the Middle East and North Africa. He was released yesterday in Cairo after being imprisoned two weeks, blindfolded by Egyptian police.

Wael Ghonim is a cyberactivist and blogger who was fighting for the dignity of the Egyptian people. It is considered one of the participants in the creation of the gigantic Facebook page “We are all Khaled Said” which has so far more than 500,000 fans.

Khaled Saïd, is a 28 -year -old who was beaten to death by two police officers last June, in the street, for broadcasting a video on the web revealing the Egyptian police forces sharing drugs and money seized following a thumb. Since then, its Facebook page has been considered the largest campaign of online activism in the Arab world.

During his first appearance on the Egyptian channel “Dream TV”, activist Wael Ghonim collapsed. He could not control his emotions by looking at the images of his compatriots killed during the last Egyptian manifestations against the Mubarak regime.

When he saw the photos of the Martyrs of the Egyptian Revolution, he could not hold back his tears. He couldn’t help but cry while repeating in an intermittent voice: “All that is because some people from the government cling to their posts …”

Wael Ghonim left the show’s set in emotion and therefore, the video of the touching scene continues to spread on social networks …
