Mohamed Bouazizi, our national hero, hitherto classified in the 10th rank of 2011 Time 100. The famous ranking, organized by the no less illustrious Time Magazine, list in order the 100 most influential people of the year.
Initiated in 1998 by a slew of politicians and publishers including Condoleezza Rice and Walter Isaacson, Time publisher, to name a few, the first list did not really appear until 1999 when the magazine decided to name the 100 most influential people of the 20th century.
Following the success of the ranking, Time Magazine decided to make it annual. The list concerns people who have been recognized for changing the world, whether in good or bad. Five categories are represented: leaders and revolutionaries, manufacturers and titans, scientists and thinkers and finally, heroes and icons. For each category, 20 people are chosen bringing to a total of 100 people all categories combined.
For the year 2011, the first three of the list are in order: Rain, a Korean pop show with more than 21,400 votes, Chris Colfer, an actor of 21 -year -old American series, winner of the 2011 Golden Globe in the best supporting role, with more than 12,500 votes, followed by Lady Gaga, which is no longer to present, with more than 10,800 votes.
Mohamed Bouazizi, classified tenth on the list, is presented by the magazine as the spark which ignited the Arab revolutions. He placed himself after the Egyptian Mohamed El Baradei, Egyptian Democrat lawyer, likely future candidate for presidential elections, but before Wael Ghonim (12th), Egyptian revolutionary, initiator of the demonstrations of Place Ettahrir.
Meanwhile and up to the closing of the votes, scheduled for April 14, Tunisian Internet users are busy to raise Bouazizi to the front row. They encourage to vote for the latter through blogs, including neuronelibre.blogspot.com, but also on Twitter or on their Facebook page.
If Mohamed Bouazizi failed to tear off the first place in the ranking, his rank should at least be the best in the Arab world. But if by chance, the Egyptians approached first place and Bouazizi remained at the level of 10th place, of course, we would vote for the Egyptians and we would forget our resentments of football after the incidents of the match of the African club.
