The tone has been set since yesterday with a roundup aimed at Marseille of Tunisians from Lampedusa, Italy. Fifteen people were thus placed in police custody.
Still yesterday in Paris, the police invested the Villette park to dislodge a hundred Tunisians. Today, according to observers on the spot, there is nothing left of the improvised camp which served as a refuge for Tunisian migrants.
All migrants were indeed embarked by the police for control of their situation on a case -by -case basis. According to sources at the French Interior Ministry, two procedures are envisaged to renew these undesirable borders.
In the first case, that of those who cannot present any identity paper, there will be a green expulsion the country of origin or a referral to Italy. In the second case, that of those who are carrying the “safe disputes” issued by the Italian authorities, it is recommended to have the criterion of resources obliged to justify a sum of 60 euros per day. Thus, those who will not have this sum at their disposal will be expelled to Italy.
According to the same sources, the French authorities recommend a strict application of the laws to repress emigrants firmly and establish a kind of “case law” for future cases.
For the moment, two reactions are to be emphasized. On the one hand, the Federation of Tunisians on the two banks has just called to demonstrate while challenging the French authorities. On the other hand, the mayor of Paris, Mr. Bertrand Delanoë took a clear position calling for the French public authorities to have “the sense of dignity” and deploring their inability to set up a reception system. Rasting “shabby”, the reaction of the French authority, the mayor of Paris also advised not to fall into “political controversies”.
Recall that it was, recently, a question of implementing in France, to face the exodus of the Tunisians of Lampedusa, the provisional suspension clause of the Schengen agreements. This clause was applied in the past during the London attacks (2005) and the World Cup of Football (2006). It activates controls at the internal borders of the Schengen space.
More than a hundred Tunisians were arrested yesterday in Marseille and Paris and are affected by this situation.
