In the end, this is reflected in the film industry of Arab countries thanks to the powerful and influential projects that the festival supports“.
CIFF director Amir Ramses said: ” I am happy with the strategic role of the CFC. A significant number of unique Arabic works and guests participated in the ninth edition. This year, we want to repeat this concept by offering the best possible support to Arab filmmakers. We aim to help them present and develop their films in order to participate in leading global forums, as was the case with “Inshallah a Boy” and “Les Filles d’Olffa” who received more than 3 prizes at the International Cannes Festival.“”
CFC director Lynda Belkhiria said: ” By scoring a decade of excellence in supporting Arab cinematographic projects, the CFC has established itself as a platform globally recognized since its creation, contributing to the international success of several films. In addition to the presentation of poignant stories and very diverse themes, the selection of this year is distinguished by the presence of projects carried by women, thus reaching a balance between the sexes among the participants, a challenge often encountered in the cinema industry. This testifies to the constant progression of Arab women in the film industry. »»
The CFC takes place as part of the Cairo film Industry Days. In addition, it is a platform that offers a space for discussions, communication, meetings, workshops and sessions. It aims to support talents in the Arab world and to draw attention to them. The director of a participating project must be Arab. In addition, a film must be a feature film or a documentary in the development or post-production phase. A project director must have presented at least one film, whether long or short.
CIFF is one of the most prestigious and oldest festivals in the Arab world and Africa. It is unique in this sense that it is the only festival in the Arab and African region to be accredited in category “A” by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).
