Hamas announced on Monday having accepted an Egyptian proposal for a cease-fire in Gaza, after seven months of war with Israel. However, this announcement was short -lived because Israel rejected the Truce approved by Egypt and Qatar. This decision comes a few hours after Israel ordered around 100,000 Palestinians to evacuate the southern city of Rafah, suggesting that an earthly invasion could be imminent.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh announced the news during a telephone call with the Prime Minister of Qatar and the Egyptian Intelligence Minister. The Palestinians broke out in the vast tent camps around Rafah, hoping that the agreement meant that an Israeli attack had been avoided. However, with the refusal of Israel, everything seems to come back to the starting point.

An Israeli official said that it was not the original version of the Truce proposed discussed last week in Cairo, adding that it was not acceptable as it is, report several concordant media.

The Israeli official described the approval given by Hamas to this proposal as a “cunning” aimed at passing Israel for the party refused peace.

The Israeli bombings in Gaza have killed more than 34,700 Palestinians, of which about two thirds are children and women. More than 80 % of the population of 2.3 million people were moved and hundreds of thousands of people in the north are on the verge of famine.
