Report of the El Gouna Film Festival in consideration of tragic events in Gaza

Given the deeply worrying circumstances prevailing in Gaza, the management of the El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) made the thoughtful decision to further postpone the next sixth edition of the festival, which was scheduled from October 13 to 20and then Pushed back for the first time from October 27 to November 2, 2023.

A sum of 5 million Egyptian pounds was given to strengthen the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza, in partnership with the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development and the Egyptian Red Crescent Society.

These measures resonate deeply with the spirit of solidarity expressed by the administration of the El Gouna film festival towards the Palestinian people and the civilian population of Gaza.

Since its creation, the El Gouna Film Festival has adopted the principle of “cinema for humanity” as a fundamental belief strengthening all the values of humanitarian understanding.

The management of the GFF aspires to the resumption of the 6th edition when the situation stabilizes in the Palestinian territories.

Press release.
