Meeting with Maher Rajhi, arrested in Montreal for threats against Belhassen Trablesi
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Since his flight from Tunisia, the evening of January 14, aboard his yacht, Belhassen Trabelsi lives in Canada, and in Montreal more precisely. And despite the international arrest opinion sent by Tunisia to Interpol, the Canadian state has still done nothing to stop Belhassen. Especially since Interpol told Ottawa that she would not hurry an agent to make arrests, because they were to be made by the local police, in accordance with national legislation.

Even Leila’s brother’s bank accounts were not immediately frozen. Worse, he was even able to make important banking transactions from his place of residence, at Château Vaudreuil, in January.

But beyond the astonishing passivity of the Canadian government and the aberrant impunity in which “the godfather” now lives, we have learned the arrest of a young Tunisian, living in Montreal.

The latter appeared, discreetly, last week, before the Montreal Criminal Court, accused of threats against Belhassen Trabelsi. Aberrant!

This info, published by the site “rue Frontenac”, was not taken up by any information site. Go ask why?

It is in this sense that the webdo correspondent in Montreal, Bochra Ben Youssef, contacted the 23 -year -old young man, Maher Rajhi, to better understand what he endured. And the least we can say is that his “adventure” is mind -blowing.

During the night of January 26 to 27, Maher was invited by his friends to participate in a (authorized) demonstration, in front of the Vaudreuil castle, where Belhassen and his family lived at the time. Founding several kilometers from this place, he called his best friend so that she can lend him his car.

To his friend’s question: “Why do you want to go?” “, Maher responds with spontaneity and irony” I want to kill him “. Three hours later, his best friend, whose name he does not prefer to disclose the name, is surprised by visiting the security of Quebec, in this case the anti-terrorism brigade. The telephone communication she had with Maher had been intercepted. They therefore sought to have information on the latter.

The next day, Maher was arrested, bombed with questions, marked and then transferred to immigration services.

The young Tunisian was in an irregular situation since the theft of his bank card. All his savings have vanished, forcing Maher to withdraw her university registration. This no longer allowed him to benefit from the status of student.

During his police custody, Maher was accused of “threats against Belhassen Trabelsi”. Knowing that he had never been in contact, or even around Leila’s brother’s residence!

His trial was postponed to June 16, where he will appear again before the judge. A trial absurd during which a young Tunisian will be reproached for an ironic sentence expressed on the phone! Fortunately, ridicule does not kill …

Meanwhile, the Canadian government has still done nothing to arrest Belhassen Trabelsi while an international arrest warrant was sent against it by Tunisia …
