During a meeting with wealthy donors in New York on May 14, Donald Trump said that if he was re-elected, his administration would not hesitate to expel any foreign student who took part in recent pro-Palestinian demonstrations on American university campuses, reports the Washington Post.

The former president and alleged republican candidate described these demonstrations against the War of Israel in the Gaza Strip as a “radical revolution” and promised the mainly Jewish donors that he would make this 25 or 30 -year -old movement back away if they helped him to beat Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election.

These demonstrations, often taking the form of tent camps, denounce the war waged by Israel in the Gaza Strip. Trump described them as a “radical revolution” that should be retreated from 25 to 30 years.

The former president said that “foreign students would be immediately returned to their countries of origin if they took part in these rallies. This radical measure would aim to suffocate in the egg any movement of support for the Palestinian cause on American soil, ”adds the same source.

Trump praised the muscular intervention of the New York police to dismantle camps at Columbia University, advocating to extend this repressive approach to other cities. “It must be stopped now,” he said, “said the American daily.

Pro-Palestinian student demonstrations have become an electoral issue for the Republicans, who portray them as a sign of “chaos” spreading under the Biden administration.

The United States remains the first destination of international students with more than a million registered in 2022/2023, or 6% of the workforce. A 14% increase in new registrations has been found, from nearly 200 different countries.
