The project of the new sports city, the extension and renovation of the Stade Taieb Mehiri were at the center of a working session at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Kamel Dégué, Minister of Youth and Sports chaired Monday July 15, 2024 a meeting focused on examining the Sfax sports city project, in particular the technical, land and financial issues, calling to hasten the realization of this national sports project.
In this sense, it has been agreed to proceed to the construction of a stadium as a priority and to return the project file to the General Public-Private Partnership (IGPPP) to assess its efficiency, in accordance with the recommendations of the Higher Commission for the acceleration of the realization of public projects completed by the competent services of the Presidency of the Government.
With regard to the project to modernize and extend the Taieb Mhiri stadium in Sfax, a program was arrested at technical and financial levels and the file has been referred to the municipality of Sfax which will take care of the procedures relating to the realization of the project.
The question of renovating the Taieb Mhiri stadium in accordance with CAF standards will be the prerogative of the presidency of the government.
