Chaired by lawyer Samia Maktouf, the Jury of the Prix Gisèle Halimi has just distinguished Cécile Tlili and her novel “A simple dinner”.
The first edition of the Gisèle Halimi Prize has just been held in Paris on the initiative of the Franco-Tunisian lawyer association chaired by Samia Maktouf, also president of the jury for this new literary prize created in partnership with the French Institute in Tunisia.
The Gisèle Halimi Prize rewards the author or the author of a work of fiction evoking the fight of women for freedom but also for equality and fraternity between men and women.
It is the book “A simple dinner”, Cécile Tlili’s first novel, published by Calmann Levy editions which is the recipient of the Gisèle Halimi Prize for the year 2023.
This novel features “a closed door taking place on a heat wave evening, during a dinner between two couples. The tension is palpable, almost none of the protagonists rejoices in this evening and yet the time will be when questioning and revelations.
A first novel with a mastered style that takes a fair look at social ties, maternity, professional ambitions, sexism ”.
A cycle of meetings around this book is soon planned in the network of the French Institute of Tunisia.
