The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, said, during his meeting with the Minister of Finance Mechka Khalladi, held in the afternoon of June 9 at the Palais de Carthage, that the finance bill for next year must imperatively be part of a development plan resulting from the popular will.
The Head of State said that national choices must constitute the foundation of this law, with a view to meeting the expectations of the people. He notably emphasized the need to revise certain tax laws, including those that would allow recruitments to be reopened for the benefit of those who have suffered from unemployment for many years.
Kaïs Saïed also gave clear instructions to provide a good welcome from Tunisians living abroad on the occasion of their return to the country this summer. He called for guaranteeing them the best services, simplifying procedures and ensuring their transparency.
In addition, the president looked at the functioning of several institutions under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance. He recalled that Tunisia has honored all of its international financial commitments, despite the fact that many loans contracted in the past have not benefited the Tunisian people as it was. Several international organizations have also noted, he stressed, believing that it would have been fairer than these debts, whose interests are always paid without real benefit for citizens, are canceled.
