Last Sunday, pro-democracy Moroccans were again descended in the streets, at the call of young people from the February 20 movement, to proclaim their claims loudly.
Casablanca and Tangier have seen massive participation in this event.
Like in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen and Syria, the demonstrators encountered incredible violence forces, which, with batons and wooden sticks, dispersed the demonstrators, making several dozen wounded, notably in Casablanca, according to AFP.
The Moroccan Association of Human Rights is concerned that the country’s authorities no longer respect the right to demonstrate and deplore this police aggressiveness. For its part, a spokesperson for the Moroccan government told AFP that the movement that organized these demonstrations is used Islamist and far-left groups.
However, counter-demonstrations took place Sunday in Rabat, Casablanca and Fez.
