Legislative: Franco-Tunisian Karim Ben Cheïkh largely re-elected

Karim Ben Cheïkh, from the new Popular Front, came at the top of the 9th district of the French from abroad with 74.71% of the votes.

Franco-Tunisian Karim Ben Cheïkh was elected deputy of the French National Assembly in the 9th district of foreigners (North Africa and Western African countries) by largely winning the ballot with 74.71% against Djaouadi Samira of the presidential coalition together for the Republic (25.29%).

This 9th district covers the Maghreb and West Africa and has 130,380 registered on the electoral lists of which 37,222 voted during the 2nd round of the legislative elections. In Tunisia, Karim Ben Cheïkh won 80% of the votes for 5,827 voters.

Karim Ben Cheïkh, 47, was born in Tunis where he grew up in the company of his French mother and his Tunisian father. He followed his secondary studies at the French Lycée de la Marsa.

French diplomat and politician, he held the positions of the third secretary of the French Embassy in Morocco, then adviser for Africa of the French Embassy in the United States, before being appointed Consul General of France to Beirut. Function which he occupies until 2021.

Elected deputy during the partial legislative election of 2023, he is a member of the Génération.S party, founded by Benoît Hamon.
