Erdogan threatens to intervene, Israel talks about the fate of Saddam Hussein

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan launched a warning against Israel on Sunday, evoking a possible military intervention and comparing the situation to the involvement of Turkey in other regional conflicts.

During a meeting of his party, the AKP in his hometown of Rize, Erdogan said: “We must be very strong so that Israel cannot do these ridiculous things in Palestine. Just as we entered Karabakh, just as we entered Libya, we could do the same. “He added:” There is no reason why we cannot do it … We must be strong to be able to take these measures. »»

These words refer to the recent military implications of Turkey, in particular its support for Azerbaijan in the conflict of Haut-Karabakh and its support for the government internationally recognized in Libya.

In response to these threats, the Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Israel Katz launched a severe warning to Erdogan. On platform X, Katz said: “Erdogan follows the traces of Saddam Hussein and threatens to attack Israel. He should remember what happened there and how it ended. This message was accompanied by photos of the two leaders side by side.

Relations between Israel and Turkey have deteriorated considerably since the start of the war in Gaza. In May 2024, Turkey suspended its trade relations with Israel, citing the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories. This decision could lead to significant economic losses for Israel, estimated at around 5 billion dollars per year.

It is important to note that Turkey was the first Muslim majority country to establish diplomatic relations with Israel in 1949. However, these links gradually deteriorated over the decades, reaching a new low point today.

These incendiary statements are involved in a regional context on the edge of the explosion and while the Zionist entity seems to prepare a large offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Last Saturday, a rocket shooting attributed to the Hezbollah Shiite movement killed twelve children and adolescents and made twenty-nine injured in Majdal Shams, a Druze city of the occupied Golan Plateau.
