On the 299th day of the Israeli offensive on Gaza, the Islamic resistance movement (Hamas) announced in a press release the assassination of its head of the political bureau, Ismaïl Haniyeh, in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Hamas said the leader of the movement “fell following a treacherous Zionist strike on his residence in Tehran”. One of the leaders of the movement said that this assassination will not remain unpunished.
For his part, the Iranian revolution guards indicated that they were examining the circumstances of the martyrdom of Haniyeh in Tehran and that they would announce the results of the investigation later.
At the same time, when the Israeli army officially confirmed the assassination of the Hezbollah leader, Fouad Chaker, during a strike led Tuesday evening in the southern suburbs of Beirut, who also made victims and civil injured, Hezbollah has not yet published a press release.
This escalation of violence occurs in an already tense context, with potentially serious consequences for regional stability. The international community closely observes these developments, fearing an expansion of the conflict beyond the borders of Gaza.
