The Tunisian Karate selection shines in the African African African Championship in Abuja, winning two continental titles thanks to Wafa Majhoub and Mohamed Ayat.
From July 22 to 27, 2025, the Nigerian capital Abuja welcomed the African Karate Championship (senior men and ladies). Tunisia has won six medals: 2 in gold, 1 in silver and 3 in bronze, confirming its place among the best African nations in this discipline.

The two continental titles were obtained by Wafa Majhoub in -61 kg, after a breathtaking final won against Egyptian Norsine Ali (7-6); And Mohamed Ayat in -60 kg, who won in the final against the Egyptian Ali Zied El Gharib (2-1).
This harvest of medals confirms the potential of Tunisian karate. The performance of Mahjoub and Ayat, in particular, underline the technical progression of Tunisian athletes in the face of formidable Egyptian adversaries, often dominating on the continental scene.
Money for Israa Betaïeb
In addition to the gold medals, Tunisia won the money with Israa Betaïeb in -68 kg, beaten in the final by the Egyptian Mona Shaabane (1-4).
Rayane Ghazouani (-84 kg), Ahmed Rayane Tlili (-75 kg), and Tasnim Sayed (-68 kg), meanwhile, won bronze during this 2025 edition.
