Amnesty International has asked the new Libyan authorities to hand over the son of Muammar Gueddafi, Seif El Islam, and the former head of intelligence services, Abdullah Senoussi, at the International Criminal Court in the event that they are arrested. “They must be allowed to go to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to respond to accusations of crimes against humanity,” said Amnesty International press release. “If the information according to which Saïf Al Islam Gaddafi and Abdullah Al Senoussi wish to go from their own will to the International Criminal Court is correct, they must be authorized to do so, and it is important to guarantee their security and their rights,” said Marek Marczynski, member of the Amnesty International Team for International Justice.
He added that “the National Transitional Council (CNT) and the neighboring governments of Libya must guarantee that they will be held safe and quickly transferred to The Hague in order to be heard, whether they are voluntarily surrendered or that they are arrested and then transferred.
That these men be judged by the ICC would guarantee that the victims obtain justice, truth and repairs for the crimes against humanity that they are accused of having committed against the Libyan people – a justice which would be compromised if the illegal homicide of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi is confirmed. “Continued the manager of Amnesty International.
