A two -day sectoral strike movement is scheduled for the Tunisian National Railway Company (SNCFT) on Thursday June 12 and Friday June 13. This action, initiated by the union section specific to the railways under the Tunisian General Union of Labor (UGTT), is involved in a climate of persistent tensions between workers’ representatives and the General Directorate of the Society.
In a statement published upstream of the strike, the union structure announced that all the necessary measures have been taken to ensure the smooth running of this movement. She calls all agents, executives as well as the staff of the regional departments and the various units of the SNCFT to respect the union instructions and to participate massively in this mobilization.
The strike aims, according to the trade unionists, to protest against “continuous degradation of working conditions, the non-compliance with the commitments made by management during previous negotiations, as well as the freezing of several professional and social demands”.
Among the advanced grievances: the lack of rolling stock, the delays in the payment of premiums, and the absence of a clear strategy to relaunch a rail sector in difficulty.
