The United States approved on Tuesday the sale of weapons in Israel of a value exceeding $ 20 billion, including fighter planes F-5 and nearly 33,000 ammunition for tanks.
According to a notification of the State Department at the US Congress, this transaction aims to strengthen Israel’s capacities to face current and future threats.
This announcement arises while Israel has been continuing for more than ten months a military offensive in the Gaza Strip, in a context of increased tensions with Lebanon and Iran, two countries recently targeted by Israeli strikes.
In addition, in response to the threats of Iranian reprisals, the United States has recently strengthened its military presence to ward off a possible attack on their ally.
