Last November, Qatar’s television channel Al Jazeera installed a branch in Bosnia.
The aim of this antenna is to issue in Slavic language and shine on the Balkan region where Muslims are numerous.
Since then, the dissemination of Al Jazeera’s programs in this region has reinforced the presence of this channel of Panislamist inspiration.
According to indiscretions from diplomats, Al Jazeera is currently studying the possibility of establishing itself in Tunisia to distribute, from this new branch, programs in French.
These programs would primarily target Maghreb countries and should also try to reach the Maghrebians residing in France, Switzerland and Belgium, which are more and more numerous.
This potential deployment of Al Jazeera could unroll against a real economic background blade. Indeed, Qatar is currently investing enormous sums in the French economy and could be tempted by an increased media presence in France. A case to follow!
