By dint of tinkering, we end up breaking everything. The Tunisia Supercup, supposed to be a prestigious trophy between the champion and the Cup winner, has lost all frames this year, all meaning … and any credit.
Again, the Tunisian Football Federation invents a regulation over the events. Three days from the official final of the 2024-2025 Super Cup, no one knows who will face the Hope of Tunis. And for good reason: the champion’s opponent will be appointed this Sunday, after an improbable “dam” between the Tunisian stadium and the Monastirian sports union.
A three -team Super Cup? The absurd has become a system. Originally, the logic wanted the Tunisian stadium, the cup finalist, competing for the Super Cup. But the USMO, vice-champion of Tunisia, disputed its non-qualification. And instead of deciding by the law or by the regulations, the Federation improvised a meeting … to determine who has the right to compete in the Super Cup.
A qualifying match for a final supposed to reward two winners: there is the most total inconsistency. Yes, you have read correctly: a Super Cup, supposed to oppose the champion to the Cup winner, transformed into a catch-up mini-turnroad, without clear or sports legitimacy.
Worse still: the final is already scheduled for July 30, just three days after this “Super Cup semi-final”. How to talk about sporting equity? How to prepare a final under these conditions? And what about respecting clubs, players, supporters? The dominant feeling is that of a football managed in sight, without a fixed framework, where each decision creates more confusion.
This fiasco goes beyond simple anecdote: it illustrates the fragility of our sports structures. A supercup is not supposed to be an experiment. It is a trophy, a prestigious meeting, a window of national football. As it stands, it became a bad play, played on a scene too large for the actors behind the scenes.
Again, the Tunisia Super Cup has turned to the farce. Tunisian football, supposed to federate, is once again discredited by the amateurism of its instances. Why so many chaos? Why does such a simple competition in principle become a puzzle every year?
