Israeli attacks in Lebanon left at least 274 people, including 21 children, according to an official assessment of the Lebanese Ministry of Health. The Minister of Health, Firass Abiad, said that among the victims are also 39 women and two members of medical staff. The number of injured amounts to more than 1,000 people.
Israeli air strikes have targeted medical centers, ambulances and civilian vehicles trying to flee conflict areas. Faced with this critical situation, the Lebanese educational authorities ordered the closure of all the crèches in the country, as well as that of the schools for two days in the regions affected by bombing.
In response to these attacks, Hezbollah has claimed rocket fire aimed at Israeli bases. The Israeli army has reported the trigger for alert sirens in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, indicating an extension of the range of Hezbollah fire to the south.
On the diplomatic level, Iran reacted strongly by the voice of Nasser Kanaani, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He described the Israeli strikes on Lebanon “crazy” and warned against “the dangerous consequences” of this Israeli “new adventure”.
