The criminal chamber of the Tunis Court of Appeal confirmed a trial judgment ordering a lawyer to eight years in prison, for falsification of official documents and imitation of the seal of a public authority.
According to the elements of the file, the defendant was continued for his involvement in the falsification of a real estate sales contract, a document in which he would have inserted false information, falsified signatures and used an official seal imitated to accredit the validity of the contract.
The investigating judge at the Tunis court of first instance had issued a warrant for the lawyer from the first stages of the investigation, due to the elements brought up in this file.
The criminal chamber judged the accusations founded and decided to confirm on appeal the sentence initially pronounced. The lawyer will therefore have to serve eight years of imprisonment, without awarding sentence at this stage of the procedure.
