The criminal chamber specializing in financial corruption affairs, attached to the Tunis court of first instance, sentenced yesterday, Monday, June 16, 2025, the former deputy Walid Jalled to six years in prison and a significant fine. This decision sanctions facts for money laundering and illicit enrichment, which has been accused for several years.
Walid Jalled, former elected representative of the dissolved Parliament and ex-president of the Sports Future of Soliman, has been questioned since February 2023: a descent from the police led to his arrest on February 14, 2023, on the basis of a mandate of the financial prosecutor’s office for investigation of his property and the management of the sports association.
In May 2025, his request for provisional release was rejected by the specialized criminal chamber, the case having been returned to a hearing fixed to May 22. To this hearing, the court still rejected its release.
During the hearing of June 16, 2025, the Court rendered its judgment: six years of imprisonment and a fine for money laundering and illicit enrichment. This verdict closes a procedure started more than two years ago.
The origin of the case dates back to February 2023, the date on which Walid Jalled had been arrested following an investigation of the prosecution of the Tunis court. The investigators then looked at his assets as well as the financial management of the sports association which he chaired.
According to sources close to the file, the accusations relate in particular to suspicious financial movements, questionable contracts and possible illicit enrichment during its period of political and associative activity.
