Twenty-four hours after the fire of the secular mausoleum of Sidi Bou Said, this seaside city was again at the heart of the news for welcoming the Minister of Foreign Affairs Rafik Abdessalem.
The visit of the son -in -law of Rached Ghannouchi had, of course, had no link with the acts of vandalism of the day before but was sufficient to mobilize some 300 people, who came to disrupt the dinner he took with a Kuwaitian delegation to the very chic “Dar Zarrouk” restaurant.
The inhabitants quickly rushed to the scene in order to demonstrate their disapproval, seeing in this gesture one more provocation after the sad evening on Saturday. The indignation of the inhabitants quickly turned into anger which forced the “brave” minister and his guests to flee through a service door, all under the protection of police reinforcements who came to the rescue.
