Two Egyptians were killed by bullets yesterday Thursday, July 31, in the afternoon in the border post of Ras JDIR, during clashes between Egyptians wishing to flee the crisis in Libya and Libyan security forces, said the TAP agency.
The Libyan security forces have used their weapons to disperse hundreds of Egyptian citizens, who crowded and jostled on the Tunisian-Libyan border to quickly switch to Tunisian territory, a source present at Ras Jedir told TAP.
Tunisian security officials have indeed refused the entry of the Egyptians who did not have transit visas, wanting to make sure they then set off again to Egypt.
Egypt has decided to send planes to Tunisia to repatriate its citizens from Djerba-Zarzis International Airport. A first plane has already taken more than 300 people to Cairo yesterday in the morning. In his meeting with the security crisis, the head of government Mehdi Jomaa said he does not want Tunisia to be a refuge but transit. PM
