The Moroccan capital, Rabat, was the scene of the day before yesterday, Tuesday October 22, 2024, in front of the headquarters of the second Moroccan national channel, 2m. The demonstrators claimed to stop the broadcast of the series “NAS al-Mallah”.
An Israeli soldier on an official channel
The demonstrators demanded to stop the broadcast of the series “NAS al-Mallah”, broadcast since the end of September on the 2M channel, in which the Israeli-Moroccan actress Eva Kadosh appears.
Kadosh served in the Israeli army and is known for its Zionist positions supporting the actions of the Israeli occupation army in his war of extermination against Gaza, which has lasted for more than a year.
The controversy surrounding this figure is fueled by its publications encouraging violence against the Palestinians, as well as by its images of bombs and missiles intended to destroy houses, hospitals and accommodation centers. This caused the indignation of Moroccans.
Continuation of standardization links with Israel
The Moroccan government has made no official declaration in response to the demands of the demonstrators, who have been lasting for more than a week and have led to steps and sit-in in front of the Moroccan channel seats, as well as in several cities of the country.
Since the start of the “Al-Aqsa deluge” operation, Morocco’s official position has been deemed timid concerning the crisis in Gaza. The Moroccan government was content to call for a ceasefire and appeasement, while some Latin American countries have taken more radical measures, going so far as to break their diplomatic relations with Israel.
Morocco has signed a series of standardization agreements with Israel, like the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan, from the second half of 2020. The country quickly strengthened its links with Tel Aviv in exchange for the recognition of its sovereignty over Western Sahara.
Morocco continued its relations with Israel despite attacks against Gaza and Lebanon, by establishing security partnerships with Tel Aviv and welcoming drone manufacturing factories.
One -way love
Observers consider that relations between Morocco and Israel resemble “one -way love”. As of the signing of the so -called Abraham agreements, Morocco hastened to send delegations to Israel, the most recent being a parliamentary delegation.
However, the war of October 7 broke out, leading to the cancellation of the visit at the last minute. According to several sources, this cancellation was not in solidarity with Gaza, but because the Israelis were occupied by the operation “deluge of Al-Aqsa”, which inflicted heavy losses.
In addition, the repeated presence of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, displaying a map of Morocco divided between Rabat and Laâyoune, did not push the Moroccan government to reconsider the Abraham agreements, although the recognition of Moroccan sovereignty on the Sahara has been one of the main challenges of these agreements.
