Brazilian justice ordered the FIFA on Friday, June 20, to enforce breaks during the World Cup matches when the temperature exceeds 32 degrees, the Brasilia Regional Justice Court said, AFP.

The decision of judge Rogerio Neiva applies to all matches of the World Cup and imposes a technical break every thirty minutes if this temperature is exceeded to avoid players the risk of dehydration. The duration of the breaks has not been specified.

The prosecution had requested that the maximum temperature be 30 degrees, but the judge argued that FIFA had already a regulation providing to interrupt the matches beyond 32 degrees.

FIFA has planned three -minute breaks at the 30th and 60th minutes of the matches when the temperature exceeds 32 degrees, the decision remaining the referee’s responsibility, however.

The judge decided that FIFA should enforce this measure but can appeal this decision which is only preliminary.
