According to Italian media, Italian customs have dismantled an important counterfeit operation involving Tunisian production workshops and two companies in the Florence region.
The case relates to 18,500 high quality shoes of shoes, with a market value of around 390,000 euros, made in Tunisia but fraudulently labeled “Made in Italy”.
The survey revealed a sophisticated scheme: Italian companies exported leather and accessories to Tunisia, where several local workshops ensured the entire manufacturing of shoes.
The finished products were then re -imported in Italy, where companies were content to affix an insole bearing their brand and the mention “Made in Italy”.
A well -organized network between the two banks of the Mediterranean
The same sources specify that the system implemented involved close collaboration between Italian companies and Tunisian production units, demonstrating the growing importance of the Maghreb country in the subcontracting of the shoe industry.
However, checks carried out by the Italian authorities have established that the operations carried out in Italy were too marginal to justify the name “Made in Italy”.
