FIFA announced on Monday that the draw of the club World Cup will be held on December 5, 2024 in Miami.
The draw will determine the eight groups of four teams which will participate in the initial phase of the tournament, which will take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025. Although 31 of the 32 teams are already qualified, the last post will be awarded to the winner of COPA Libertadores, during the final between Atlético Mineiro and Botafogo, scheduled for November 30. It is important to underline the presence of the sporting hope of Tunis, the only Tunisian representative in this prestigious competition.
This edition, extended to 32 teams, is part of a project wanted by Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, since 2016. However, the competition is far from unanimous. Many football players, including the FifPro players’ union and the association of world leagues, have expressed their concerns in front of an already overloaded calendar. These organizations even plan to seize the European Commission to question the legitimacy of this tournament.
The draw, scheduled at 1:00 p.m. locals (7:00 p.m. in Tunisiz), will be broadcast live on FIFA.com and FIFA+.
