The former deputy and executive of Ennahdha, Sahbi Atig, was sentenced yesterday to fifteen years in prison by the courts. He was prosecuted for serious facts, including money laundering and illegal currency detention.
The criminal chamber of the Ariana court of first instance pronounced on Thursday a sentence of fifteen years in prison against Sahbi Atig, leader within the Ennahdha movement and former deputy in the Constituent Assembly.
The court also sentenced two other accused to the same sentence and imposed two years in prison to a former administrative official of the Ariana governorate.
Sahbi Atig was prosecuted for the constitution of a criminal group aimed at money laundering, as well as for illegal detention of foreign currencies. He is also involved in another case for false testimonies related to the same laundering activities.
