Classified 78th in innovation, Tunisia loses 7 places compared to its 2013 ranking, but is ahead of Algeria, Egypt and Morocco.
Out of a total of 143 countries, Tunisia occupies 78th place in innovation, according to the 2014 Innovation World Index Report (The Global Innovation Index-GII), published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (OMPI), the European Business Administration Institute (INSEAD) and the Cornell University.
In 2014, Tunisia obtained a score of 32.9 out of 100 (on a scale ranging from 0 for the least good performance and 100 for the best). It is ahead of Morocco (84th), Egypt (99th) and Algeria (133rd). The lead arrive Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Sweden.
The scoring of the innovation index is calculated on the basis of 81 indicators, two of which are indicators, the first called “input innovation” or innovation relating to institutions, human resources, research, infrastructure and the second baptized “innovation output” or exit index of innovation relating to knowledge and technologies, creativity, specifies the TAP agency.
The 2014 innovation global index goes further and is not satisfied with the indicators traditionally used to measure research and development and innovation to be more interested in the interaction between the various agents of the innovation system, that is, businesses, the public sector, higher education and companies.
