Olympic champion Mohamed Gammoudi, designated health ambassador

Olympic champion Mohamed Gammoudi, was appointed health ambassador to Tunisia during an inauguration ceremony organized this Thursday, July 24, at the headquarters of the ministry as part of a awareness campaign in favor of regular physical activity, reports the TAP.

Mohamed Gammoudi, 76, is the first Tunisian athlete to have won an Olympic medal. It was during the Tokyo Games in 1964 where he made the money. Four years older in Mexico City, he won two other medals, one in gold and one in bronze.
If Gammoudi has been raised to the rank of icon for half a century, this is not the opinion of the authors of the “black book” who pinned a champion doubled by a career soldier.
During this ceremony, the Minister of Health, Mohamed Salah Ben Ammar, stressed that the appointment of Mohamed Gammoudi as an ambassador fits into a prevention program against chronic diseases.
In this regard, the Ministry of Health has produced an awareness -raising television spot in collaboration with the Tunisian champion. Under the slogan “Large or small, thanks to physical activity you live better”, the awareness spot alternates the Olympic prowess of Mohamed Gammoudi in 1968 with his good physical condition today.
The spot will notably be broadcast on television channels and during the Carthage Festival. As part of his activities as an ambassador, Gammoudi will move with representatives of civil society in the regions to educate people about the benefits of physical activities.
